Thirty-five experience-filled years in local and international event production, corporate hospitality, meeting planning, marketing, and sports sponsorship. Contract negotiation and implementation with sponsors, vendors and agencies. Local, regional, national and international event and meeting production/management logistics including attendee registration/management, accreditation, accommodations, food & beverage, security, audio/visual, show-flow, VIP/gala functions, staffing and transportation. Management skills that include candidate search, interviewing, training, supervision and performance review of 10-20 employees. Sponsorship rights delivery and implementation including onsite branding, hospitality, ticketing and marks usage approval. Some of my projects are highlighted below.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Beginning in 2001, I produced the inaugural New Year’s Eve fireworks show for the Downtown Denver Partnership. Designed to be in the urban center, business rooftops were used to launch simultaneous displays visible along the pedestrian16th street Mall. Lifting this event even higher, two identical shows were produced, one for early-birds and one to ring in the New Year at midnight. I managed all operations, safety, and budget aspects of the event for the next 17 years, and during my stewardship, this event has drawn hundreds of thousands of people annually. Urban Ice Skating Rink
An idea that quickly became a holiday tradition. I produced a seasonal urban skating rink for the Downtown Denver Partnership for 10 years. This included managing all operations, staffing, safety, entertainment, programming, budgeting. Lots of memories made and thin ice avoided! It was a project I embraced with my whole heart and loved seeing it come to fruition each year.
Urban Activation
What do a temporary basketball court, custom mini golf, a giant sandbox, stand-up paddle tank on a city street, almost 200 feet of real grass on a pedestrian mall, a dog park, and an urban market have in common? These are a few of the many urban activation projects I have produced. From multi-day events to 12-hour projects, operations, logistics and creative problem solving are my specialty. Major League Soccer
I have worked as a contractor for Major League Soccer for 5 years and have supported the production of a variety of public and private events including concerts, fan festivals, press conferences, and digital workspace for their flagship events MLS All-Star, MLS Superdraft, MLS Cup and various media announcements.
International Cycling Events
In 1986 I worked my first event ever - the Coors International Cycling Classic. I loved the sport instantly and the close family-like friendships that have made it thrive. I held various operational and production roles at top professional races, including Amgen Tour of California, USA Pro Challenge, Tour of Missouri, Tour de Georgia, US Pro Championship, CoreStates, Tour du Pont and Coors Classic. I’ve also worked the Tour de France in a variety of roles including managing all the logistics, operations and translation prior to and on-site for documentary film production, and onsite logistics for a cycle-tourism group.
FIFA World Cup Soccer, Summer and Winter Olympics
I have worked as an independent contractor for the Winter and Summer Olympics, and the Men’s and Women’s FIFA World Cup, in a variety of roles, including marketing operations, hospitality, and press operations. I worked in Switzerland for three years, on the marketing operations for the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France. It was an incredible project to be a part of. Through it I gained an immense knowledge of the international sports industry and made loads of lifelong friendships.
There is nothing like seeing the world come together for these large international spectacles. Being a part of them has been a highlight of my career in event production.
